Message from the President

The Open University (its former name in English then was the University of the Air) was established by the government in 1983. The English name was changed in 2007 as the new name, the Open University of Japan (OUJ), was thought to better represent OUJ’s missions. OUJ is a university that opens to anybody who wishes to study as there is no entrance selection and it provides educational services with affordable fees.
