QA for OERs and Micro-credentials: Towards Inclusive Lifelong Learning

Abstract

Quality Assurance is an important component of any education or learning program. It impacts on the sustainability of the initiative. Hence, it is important that innovations in the offering of learning opportunities be accompanied by a relevant quality assurance framework as in the cases of Open Education Resources (OERs) and micro-credentialing (MC). This presentation aims to revisit the definitions of OERs and Microcredentialing; present the domains/pillars of quality in OERs and MC based on relevant QA frameworks for open learning; and propose a model of integrating OERs with MC for inclusive and quality lifelong learning.
